CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - Sen. Kit Bond says the Chinese are still interested in launching a Midwestern air cargo hub at St. Louis' Lambert Airport.
And he said the proposed Midwest-China Hub would bring much needed jobs to the region.
Bond just returned from China, where he met with top government officials and won assurances that the long-discussed project is still a priority. But Chinese officials say the project must be viable to proceed.
Bond spoke Wednesday to the Midwest-China Hub Commission in suburban Clayton. He is vice chairman of a Senate committee that works on trade and economic issues in China.
