Novus International and the World Trade Center Saint Louis have teamed up to raise $100,000 by Feb. 12 for Meds & Food for Kids to help feed children and families in Haiti.
Meds & Food for Kids (MFK), a St. Louis nonprofit started by Dr. Patricia Wolff in 2003, makes an enriched peanut butter therapeutic food called Medika Mamba. Wolf is a pediatrician in private practice in St. Louis and associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Novus International, a St. Charles, Mo.-based company that makes nutrition and health products for the animal agriculture, companion animal, human and industrial markets, made the first corporate donation of $10,000 to the Challenge Campaign.
Novus President and Chief Executive Thad Simons said he has asked all 350 of the company's employees, including the 230 local workers, to make earthquake relief donations to MFK or similar organizations. Novus has agreed to match employee donations, dollar-for-dollar.
The World Trade Center Saint Louis is using its database of international business contacts to help get the word out about the fundraising campaign, Executive Director Tim Nowak said.

The latest death toll in Haiti is estimated at 150,000, with thousands more buried in mass graves. An estimated 2 million Haitians are homeless or living in makeshift shelters.
