Business Plan Competition & Climb So iLL on Show Me St. Louis
KSDK - Show Me St. Louis
February 4, 2011
An indoor climbing gym is starting to take shape inside the former city hospital's power plant building. David, Daniel and Ian Anderson got a big boost for "Climb So iLL", by winning second place and $30,000 dollars last year in the St. Louis Regional business plan contest. The idea is that supporting small companies, through the spirit of competition, will lead to a bigger and better local economy.
The Chancellor brothers have already experienced success with their original business venture. They create and sell colorful holds, that attach to indoor climbing walls. The company name "So iLL", has to do with the brother's college and business roots in southern Illinois. Now these native St. Louisans have returned home to make "Climb So ill" the coolest indoor rock climbing gym in the Midwest.
Winning the contest has helped move things along. Besides the money, "Climb So ill" benefits from free marketing services, as well as legal and accounting assistance. The gym will cater to climbers of all ages and abilities and is scheduled to open this summer.
