"Car Czar" awards grant to Fenton Chrysler plant

FENTON, Mo (KMOX) -- Near grafitti on an interior wall reading "Going, going, gone", federal and local officials met at the now closed Fenton Chrysler Plant today, to announce a grant aimed at helping find a new use for the site.
The 1.5 million dollars will be added to a half-million state and local dollars to fund an environmental study and devise a strategy for the site.
Obama Administration Car Czar Ed Montgomery says there is reason to believe someone will bring numerous, good-paying jobs there.
Assistant Commerce Secretary John Fernandez says the skilled local workforce should help attract a new industry, possibly including 'green' manufacturing jobs.
Fenton Mayor Dennis Hancock says the site could be sold by this summer.
