Missouri starts Web site for stimulus proposals

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon launched a Web site Monday where businesses, local governments and nonprofits can submit proposals for projects using federal stimulus dollars.

After groups and individuals submit proposals to through the Web site, transform.mo.gov, the governor%u2019s staff will review the projects and forward them to the relevant federal, state and local agency.

Missourians also can submit general ideas about opportunities for economic growth and recovery in the state, Nixon%u2019s office said. Nixon spokesman Scott Holste said the site has been developed in the past couple weeks and is maintained through the state%u2019s Office of Administration.

Illinois has also created a similar Web site.

Nixon has appointed the following advisers to serve as operational directors for his so-called Transform Missouri Initiative: Jeff Harris, policy director, office of the governor; Linda Luebbering, state budget director; and Paul Wilson, senior counsel to the governor for budget and finance.

Missouri will receive at least $10.33 billion from the $787 billion stimulus package, according to one estimate.
