The St. Louis area's newest casino hopes to cash in on some big profits next week. But the River City Casino is still putting on the final touches before its big opening day. After all the prep work, this is sort of the "final exam" for River City Casino in Lemay, Missouri. The members of the Missouri Gaming Commission are doing their final inspection of the property before they give it a final thumbs up.
It's called the "consideration of licensure." The five commissioners will go through River City Tuesday and make sure everything is up to par. They will then meet in Clayton Wednesday where they will hear from the people at Pinnacle, St. Louis County and then the public. After that, they'll take a vote. River City is one of the biggest gaming facilities in the Midwest with about 90,000 square feet of gaming floor space.
That's much bigger than the 75,000 square feet at their sister property, Lumiere. If all goes as planned, River City Casino will open March 4th.
