From the President of IEDC
IEDC Highlights
February 26, 2010
Charlie A. Dooley, County Executive for St. Louis County, testified on IEDC's behalf during a hearing on the Economic Development Administration (EDA). Board Vice Chairman Denny Coleman accompanied Mr. Dooley at the hearing, but was unable to testify as he had previously testified before this committee. Denny Coleman recommended Mr. Dooley, his boss, to deliver the testimony before the House Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management. The subcommittee wanted to hear from communities about the EDA's role in implementing the Recovery Act and economic recovery, as well as receive recommendations for reauthorization. St. Louis is an apt representative for communities given its economic challenges, innovative solutions and great success leveraging and applying EDA dollars to its economic development efforts. Mr. Dooley effectively represented IEDC and St. Louis County, as well as expressed EDA's importance to economic development for communities around the nation. We are very grateful to Denny and Mr. Dooley for their tremendous efforts and flying out to Washington, D.C. on short notice. We're also very pleased that IEDC is gaining increased recognition as a leader on economic development and recovery.
