Dooley asks County Council for property tax abatement for Clayton project
From The ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, March 22, 2008CLAYTON - St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley on Friday asked the County Council to grant tax abatement to help finance the move of the headquarters of DHR International Inc., an executive search firm, to Clayton from Chicago.
The company would benefit from a 50 percent abatement for 10 years on the increase of real and personal property taxes related to 8000 Maryland Avenue, the site of the company's new headquarters. The county also would abate sales tax on construction materials related to the move. The county economic council estimates the total value of the property tax abatement at $1.2 million and the sales tax abatement at $113,000.
The project would lead to 150 new jobs at an average wage of $100,000, Dennis Coleman, president and chief executive officer of the council, said in a letter to Dooley.
