Famous Footwear to leave Madison, Wis., for St. Louis

Famous Footwear is leaving Madison, where it has been headquartered for decades.

Corporate parent Brown Shoe Company says Famous Footwear's operations will be relocated to St. Louis as part of an effort to create a more connected company.

Brown Shoe says the 270 Madison-based employees will be offered jobs and relocation assistance. Those who do not want to relocate will be given severance packages.

Famous Footwear has more than 1,000 stores nationwide. It was founded in Madison in 1960 under a different name and has been located here ever since.
