Missouri should focus on advanced manufacturing, biosciences, health sciences, information technology, financial services, and transportation and logistics to help grow its economy over the next five years, according to a report released Monday by Gov. Jay Nixon.
The report also suggests marketing the state to domestic and international audiences; promoting rural Missouri as a "farm shoring" location for technology and services companies; and developing a science and technology/innovation fund.
The report wraps a process that started last year and included forums held across the state with 600 business, labor, economic development and higher education leaders.
