Economic Council hires counsel

The St. Louis County Economic Council announced on Tuesday that it had hired Andrew Ruben as its chief counsel. He succeeds Elaine Wright, who had held the job for 16 years and resigned to pursue other interests. Ruben worked for 10 years for the law firms of Bryan Cave LLP and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP in corporate law and finance and real estate development, including some projects in Canada, Mexico and the European Union. He has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in music from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Washington University. He is a founding member and cellist of the Rackham String Quartet. Ruben, 39, of University City, is married and has three children. His salary is $137,500 a year.
