A delegation of Chinese business leaders is in St. Louis for the next couple of days for further talks meant to establish an air cargo hub at Lambert St. Louis International Airport.

Members of the delegation met with area leaders downtown this morning then went to a Cardinals game. This latest in a series of discussions is with representatives of Chinese biotech firms and investors visiting U.S. biotech businesses. In addition to St. Louis, the Chinese will visit San Francisco and the Research Triangle in North Carolina before attending the annual international BIO meeting in Chicago.

The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association and the Midwest China Hub Commission are hosting the Chinese until Saturday afternoon. Representatives of Washington University, the St. Louis Coalition for Plant & Life Sciences, the BioGenerator, the Missouri Botanical Garden, CORTEX, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, BRDG Park, and the Center for Emerging Technologies, Express Scripts, Sigma Aldrich, BJC Healthcare are involved in the talks.

Also involved are Gov. Jay Nixon, Mayor Francis Slay, Hub Commission Chairman Mike Jones and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, who took some time today to hold a news conference to voice his continued support of state tax credits for development. Nixon is pushing legislation to cut them sharply.
