Firm Eyed for Mall Redevelopment
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
May 5, 2010
Officials want Dover Kohl & Partners of Coral Gables, Fla., to serve as a planning consultant in the redevelopment of the economically stressed Jamestown Mall in North County. The company would conduct a design study this summer as part of efforts to get advice from the public on redoing the mall property. The company specializes in "new urbanism" development which stresses walkable areas where residents, their jobs, stores, parks and entertainment would be close to one another. The St. Louis County Economic Council, which would pay for the work, is negotiating with the company about the cost and other details of a contract. Dover Kohl, one of four finalists for the job, has worked mainly in the South.
