Residents Speak On Both Sides Of Jones' Plan

If applause is a gauge, public sentiment toward Edward Jones' request to expand its campus is evenly divided, at least among those attending the public hearing held before the Des Peres Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday.
Edward Jones attorney John Diehl explained why the city should allow the company to double the size of its campus by adding a six-story office building, plus a six-story garage at the site at 11780 Manchester Road. The additions would total approximately 300,000 square feet and add about 1,000 employees.
In March, Edward Jones filed suit against the city alleging that the city has conspired to deny the company its civil rights to due process.
Diehl said the plan was to make its headquarters in Des Peres.
