St. Louis County officials will break ground on its Page-Olive Connector Project at at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 22.
County Executive Charlie A. Dooley, along with representatives from U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill's and U.S. Congressman Todd Akin's offices, will speak at the event.
Officials say, from a financial perspective, the $64 million Page-Olive Connector project the biggest in St. Louis County's history. It is expected to substantially alleviate traffic congestion in the region by offering a six-lane alternative to I-270 and I-170.
KCI Construction is performing the work, which is scheduled to be complete in 2012.
The 2.5-mile-long project will be partly funded by $20 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds, and $5 million each from the cities of Maryland Heights and Chesterfield.
