A public meeting on the future of Jamestown Mall brought out a crowd that filled the movie theatre space reserved for the event.

St. Louis County is seeking input on how to turn the struggling mall around. Research shows there are not enough people, jobs or traffic in the area for a successful mall. The St. Louis County Executive asked those who attended to think outside box.

"It could be an aquarium or something that's different to bring people to North County to make a difference," said Charlie Dooley, St. Louis County Executive.
Many residents are frustrated and want more shopping options.

"Different stores like they have in West County," said Pier Angelia Hardy, shopper. "You know we don't have all those stores and we have to travel all the way over there to spend our money where we are right in our subdivision in our neighborhood we could use the money right here," said Pier Angelia Hardy, mall shopper.

Dooley feels the mall has potential because of recent road improvements, some new housing and the desire of the nearby community.

"More importantly here is to be engaged to have ownership of this process that's going to be the key component," said Dooley.

"You have to have the people who want it and we want it," said Cindy Allen, shopper. "That's why we're here today."
