Plant and Life Sciences Hub expansion to generate 1,100 jobs

St. Louis An expansion of the St. Louis County Plant and Life Sciences Hub will help generate a minimum of 1,100 new jobs and generate $50 million in private investment.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke announced a $4.6 million U.S. Economic Development Administration grant to the Economic Council of St. Louis County for the expansion of the Plant and Life Sciences Hub. The expansion will include a new a pre-incubation feeder facility at the county facility and a new greenhouse at the Danforth Center.
The expansion of the facility will support the training of people who participate in the St. Louis Community College's bio-technician training program.
Technology products developed at the Danforth Center, include the areas of: crop stability, bio-fuels, bio-renewable products and pharmaceuticals.
