Final Call For Chrysler Reuse Study
South County Times
July 30, 2010
The deadline is fast approaching for developers and consultants wishing to be included in the St. Louis County Economic Council's Chrysler/Fenton Adaptive Reuse Study.
Letters of qualification (or supplements to prior submissions) will be accepted until 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3.
The study is being coordinated by the economic council and funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Agency and Missouri's Community Development Block Grant program.
Its intent, in part, is to help identify new uses for the former Chrysler site and surrounding areas, such as the development of a multi-use, commercial, industrial research park and/or a technology renewable and alternative energy park.
The former Chrysler plants, located along Interstate 44 in Fenton, closed in mid-2009 after Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection. The site consists primarily of two plants that total 5 million square feet and encompass nearly 300 acres of land.
