Metro restores most of bus routes cut in St. Louis area

Dozens of buses are running again in the St. Louis area, thanks to the passage in April of a half-cent sales tax increase in St. Louis County.

KMOX Radio reports that the Metro transit agency on Monday began picking up riders along 53 restructured and expanded routes. Metro officials were on hand to help riders figure out the new routes. A company official says there was some confusion for commuters.

Metro had been forced in recent years to make cuts for budgetary reasons. Passage of Proposition A in April allowed nearly all of the routes to be restored.
