China hub "by this time next year, maybe earlier" says Senator

KMOX

Recently back from China, Senator Clair McCaskill called the talks with Chinese leaders tedious, with much of the discussion centering around imports and exports of meat products.

"They have not been letting our beef in for a long time (health concerns), we have been blocking their chicken, so we spent a lot of time talking about chicken and beef" McCaskill told KMOX's Mark Reardon.

Senator McCaskill said the Administration is in the process of alleviating concerns about importing Chinese chicken.

She said the hub would not mean new business to the U.S. from China. St. Louis would be taking already existing business from other major cities.

McCaskill said one of the main advantages that she and Senator Bond have been pointing out to the Chinese is that St. Louis has the rail lines, interstates , the river and is a better distribution point.
