Scottrade Inc. will ask the state on Tuesday for $2.5 million in tax credits for an expansion it says will bring 500 new jobs to the region.
The online retail brokerage will go before the Missouri Development Finance Board, seeking $2.5 million in Build Missouri bonds for a new 700-car garage for two Maryville Center office buildings it bought earlier this year.
Spokeswoman Kelly Doria said the company plans to upgrade a 25-year-old office building and build the 138,000 square foot garage. She wouldn't disclose the total cost of the project, and said Scottrade may seek other incentives to help fund its expansion.
The fast-growing brokerage has about 900 employees in the St. Louis region, and has promised to add 500 more over the next five years, in exchange for the tax credits.
Absent from the MDFB agenda is the long-delayed Ballpark Village, which needs the board's OK before moving forward, signaling at least one more month of waiting for the project.
