Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. has announced plans to spend $82 million to expand its River CityCasino in south St. Louis County.

During a Monday morning press conference outside the casino in Lemay, Pinnacle President and CEO Anthony Sanfilippo said they'll be adding a 200-room hotel, a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose event center and a covered parking structure with up to 1,700 spaces.

"Now, we'll be able to have guests who stay overnight," Sanfilippo explained. "We'll have guests that we'll be able to entertain in a special events center. Most importantly, we'll be able to attract guests from outside the state of Missouri."

Construction on the expansion project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2012 with an expected completion in the second half of 2013.

The project is expected to create nearly 100 permanent jobs and 350 construction-related jobs.

"South Countyh has seen tangible, direct benefits since River City opened (in March 2010)," said St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley. "We have seen good jobs, new infrastructure and a renewed vitality in this area. Pinnacle is demonstrating they are good partners to St. Louis County and good neighbors in Lemay."
