River City Casino in Lemay announced it is going to build a hotel. The new economic development will mean permanent jobs and construction jobs. Pinnacle Entertainment, the owner of River City Casino, says it will be an 82 million dollar expansion that will include a 200 room hotel, a 10,000 square foot event center and a parking garage. The project will create 350 construction jobs and about 100 jobs for the hotel.
"This is extremely important for all of us. We have to figure out how to get people back to work. This is just one avenue to get people back to work. Its not gonna solve all our problems, but its a step forward in the right direction." St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley.
"St. Louis has been a market, even with River City coming into it, thats experienced very little growth. So that's an indicator that people are much more careful where they spend their entertainment dollars. So our ability to bring people in from out of state, that's very important." said CEO, Pinnacle Entertainment Anthony Sanfilippo.
Construction of the new River City Casino hotel is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of next year and be completed in the second half of 2013.
