Ideas for revitalizing the Jamestown Mall in North St. Louis County were gathered and presented in front of concerned neighbors Tuesday evening. But while progress is being made, it may take a while to see results.

It was narrowed down to two renderings, both combined suggestions people offered. Planners said it will take about five years to complete the plan: a mixed use village, which would add restaurants and shopping to the area. Despite suggestions, only so much can be done.

"This will be something that we can respond to the market, so we've developed a plan that is very flexible and that can change over time. And doesn't have a fixed amount of retail in it at the moment, but will evolve with the market and we have to see the reality of today. In this economic climate, nothing is going to change very quickly," said researcher John Hoal.

This is the second of five phases. The idea is to keep people coming back, instead of traveling across the metro to shop. Ultimately, it will be up to the county to make a decision.
