St. Louis project wins $1.8 million grant

The St. Louis Bioscience and Innovation Accelerator Project, the brainchild of three local development and training groups, won a $1.8 federal grant, the government announced Thursday.
The project was one of 20 projects chosen for funding under under the Obama administration's $37 million Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge. The grants are intended to support "high-growth industry clusters" across the country.
The grant will be divided, with $703,000 to the Economic Council of St. Louis, $973,000 to the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment, and $150,000 to the St. Louis Minority Supplier Development Council.
