A consultants group, Urban Land Institute, recommended Jamestown Mall be torn down and mixed use facility called Lindbergh Place be built instead.

The group voiced their opinion at a public meeting at Shalom Church City of Peace in unincorporated St. Louis County Friday morning.

ULI officials said the deteriorating mall was dying and that it was important for the county to move aggressively to control the land presently owned by five companies.

The group suggested the area include: residences for senior citizens, restaurants, other small businesses and facilities for children such as a YMCA. There would also be room for people to grow their own food.

The St. Louis County Economic Council said it will consider the recommendation, but so far, no official plans have been made.
