Edward Jones officials cut the ribbon this afternoon at the newest building on its Maryland Heights office campus and announced it will hire an additional 250 people to help fill the nine-story structure there and its expanded headquarters in Des Peres.
Jim Weddle, the company's managing partner, said the nine-story training center dedicated today demonstrates Edward Jones' commitment to the St. Louis area. St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley praised Edward Jones for bringing more "quality jobs" to the region.
Edward Jones opened its first building on its expanded Maryland Heights campus last fall and has another structure planned. Already the company has added about 500 employees since it announced in 2006 a phased expansion in Maryland Heights.
About 200 Edward Jones partners attended the dedication in an auditorium at the new building. The company hopes to complete in January the $100 million expansion at the headquarters in Des Peres.
It also plans to build yet another building at the Maryland Heights campus as part of a $245 million building program there. Planning for that structure will get under way after Edward Jones completes the headquarters expansion, said Jodi Foltz Gay, the company's senior partner for facilities.
