In an economy where many are cutting back and laying off, one business is doing the opposite. The River City Casino is preparing to open in the Lemay area next spring, but they need to fill 1,000 jobs.

The development cost nearly $400 million to build and steals imagery from the 1904 World's Fair and even "Meet Me in St. Louis ." It will feature restaurants and an entertainment venue, in addition to the 95,000-square-foot casino.

"Overnight, River City will become one of the major employers in this part of the region," said Mack Bradley, a Pinnacle Entertainment spokesman.

The casino's owners, Pinnacle Entertainment, already operate Lumiere Place downtown. For this casino in River City, Pinnacle is hiring everything from accountants, to dealers, to valets, to custodians; all this in a down economy.
