St. Louis County Economic Council (SLCEC) is committed to customer satisfaction. While information is the foundation of our ability to provide superior service to companies and communities, keeping your personal information secure is a top priority. As a result, SLCEC collects and retains information from visitors only when permission is granted by the visitor, or when it is necessary for normal business operations.

Our ongoing commitment to protect the privacy of visitors to our site is addressed in the following Privacy Policy. We want you to understand why and how we gather information, how that information is secured and available recourse if you believe that information is incorrect.		  
   
Restrictions on the Disclosure of Information to Affiliates  
SLCEC may, from time to time, provide customer information to its affiliates. We do this because our affiliates offer additional business and financial products and services, which may be of interest to you. The customer information that SLCEC provides to its affiliates includes, (1) information that it received internally from its transactions and experiences with its customers and (2) information provided by the visitor to the SLCEC. If you would like SLCEC not to communicate to its affiliates credit information about you that it received from external sources, please e-mail us at BusFin@slcec.com. At your request, SLCEC will withhold such information from its affiliates.  
   
Security of Information Provided  
If you select a user name and password, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. St. Louis County Economic Council and its affiliates reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, and to remove or edit content, in their sole discretion.

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.		  
   
Restrictions on the Disclosure of Customer Information  
SLCEC will only reveal specific information about customer accounts or other personally identifiable information to unaffiliated third parties under the following circumstances:
  • To comply with applicable laws and regulations;
  • To protect SLCEC against fraud;
  • To provide products or services which may be beneficial or of interest;

Employee Access and Use of Information  
Each employee of SLCEC is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all data submitted by a visitor through the site. Personally identifiable information is accessed only by those employees who have a legitimate business reason to access such information. All employees are informed of policies and procedures and required, as a condition of employment, to protect your personal information. Personal information that comes on-line, through transactions made via computer or the Internet is held to the same standards of privacy as any other transaction with SLCEC.  
   
Maintaining Privacy in Business Relationships with Third Parties  
From time to time, SLCEC contracts with outside vendors and other service partners to perform specific services. We expect and require that our business partners safeguard any information regarding a SLCEC customer.

SLCEC provides information to the public through the site. Every effort is made to ensure the information is correct and timely. If any information is found to be incorrect, please

SLCEC provides opportunities for visitors to correct or update incorrect or outdated information through various areas of the site. When notified of incorrect information, SLCEC strives to make the necessary corrections in a prompt, timely fashion. We will investigate the problem, and if appropriate, update the information. 		 
   
Use, Collection and Retention of Customer Information at Our Web Site  

SLCEC collects and retains information received through messages sent via the Web site only when it is necessary for normal business operations. A representative from SLCEC may contact you regarding your submission. Under no circumstances does SLCEC or its affiliates sell customer information to third party marketing firms or any other nonaffiliated third party as a means of producing income.

You should be aware that when you visit our website, we collect certain information that does not identify you personally, but provides us with "usage data". We use this information to create summary statistics and to determine the level of interest in information available on our site. Such non-identifying information includes:

  • Domain name (i.e. aol.com if you are using America Online);
  • Date and time our site was accessed;
  • City and state where your domain name is registered;
  • Any keywords you may have used in a search engine to find us;
  • The browser used to find us;

Like most commercial web sites, some areas of our web site may also use what is known as "cookie" technology. A "cookie" is a non-executable element of data that a web site can send to your browser when you link to that site. By assigning a unique data element to each visitor, the web site is then able to recognize repeat users, track usage patterns and better serve you when you return to that site. The "cookie" does not extract personal information about you. Most browsers provide a simple procedure that will enable you to control whether you want to receive cookies by notifying you when a web site is about to deposit a cookie.

From time to time, SLCEC may provide links to other sites, not owned or controlled by SLCEC that we think might be useful or of interest to you. We cannot, however, be responsible for the content or privacy practices used by other site owners.
