| Introduction |
Just a few weeks ago, NorthPark Partners held an Economic Summit on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus to showcase the NorthPark development site. The successful event generated interest from more than 130 real estate brokers and various people in the business community.
NorthPark's 550 acres of office, retail, and industrial space will offer a unique mix of urban accessibility and amenities, strategically designed for dynamic, growing companies looking for a central Midwestern locale.
Among its many development features and support services, St. Louis County is excited about the positive economic impact the project is bringing:
- Continuing the positive reinvestment trends in the North County communities.
- 12,000 new jobs and an estimated $7 billion generated in regional economic impact upon completion.
- Public infrastructure improvements such as creating civic facilities in Berkeley and Kinloch; redeveloping Suburban Avenue and creating a greenway in Ferguson; building a new Metrolink station near the site and making other capital improvements.
With nationally a recognized company such as Express Scripts and institutions like Vatterott College and UM-St. Louis making their home in NorthPark, we can’t wait to see who follows. We look forward to welcoming abundant growth opportunities to St. Louis County.

| Pfizer Looks to Grow in Chesterfield with $100 Million Expansion |
|
Officials with Pfizer recently announced they would spend an additional $100 million on research and pilot-plant facilities at their Chesterfield campus. This signifies the site's growing importance in the drug giant's global strategy—and a positive outlook for continued economic growth in the St. Louis region.
The largest part of the $100-million project is expanding by 50 percent the capacity of a government-certified biologics pilot plant. It is the only such facility owned by Pfizer and used to produce small quantities of biologic drugs needed for clinical trials.
In addition, Pfizer discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets leading prescription medicines for humans and animals, and many of the world's best known consumer products.
The project is an addition to an already announced $200 million state-of-the-art research building.
The 330,000-square-foot research center will house approximately 250 researchers engaged in drug discovery. The Chesterfield operations focus on potential medicines to treat cardiovascular disease, pain and inflammation, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and respiratory diseases.
When completed, the facility will bring the total number of Pfizer employees located at the Chesterfield site to more than 1,000.
