Brown Shoe
In 2008, Brown Shoe united its Famous Footwear brand with its current headquarters in the heart of Clayton. The new world-class mixed-use facility will house 650 local employees with Famous Footwear's 270 positions relocating from Wisconsin. The company also anticipates creating or relocating an additional 500-700 positions.
Under various economic development programs, Brown Shoe will obtain incentives totaling more than $43 million related to training, job creation and redevelopment to the Clayton site. The first phase alone will receive an estimated $14 million in tax credits.
