St. Louis Regional Economic Adjustment Strategic Plan – Impact of Closure of Fenton Chrysler Plant

ChryslerIn 2010, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded a $1.575 million grant, which will be used in conjunction with contributions by the State of Missouri, St. Louis County and City of Fenton. The grant has funded a regional impact study and adjustment plan to address the economic output and job losses associated with the closure of the Fenton Chrysler plants.

The 16-county regional strategic plan outlines developing new business and employment opportunities in emerging, high-growth industries. The plan, prepared by AECOM Technical Services, Inc., identifies trends within local, national and international markets from a variety of sectors, such as new technologies, green jobs, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing. The plan also makes recommendations for a recovery strategy based on the assets and industries that are best poised to contribute to the region's future success.
