Covidien
Covidien is a global health-care products company with six locations throughout the St. Louis region. The company's Imaging Solutions and Pharmaceutical Products business is solidifying its presence within the St. Louis biotech sector by expanding two of its St. Louis County facilities over the next five years.
In Maryland Heights, Covidien's Mallinckrodt Inc. subsidiary will add more than 12,000 square feet to its current manufacturing facility for an investment of $72 million. In 2009, Covidien's pharmaceuticals unit in Webster Groves completed its $30 million investment in a 9,000-square-foot pilot plant. With a total investment of $100 million, the expansions create 30 new research and development jobs, adding to the company's regional employment base of 2,500.
