In 2005, Express Scripts, Inc., one of the nation's leading managers of pharmacy benefit plans, announced it would build its corporate headquarters on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis in north St. Louis County. Not only is it the largest Fortune 500 company to locate its headquarters on a university campus, it also is located on the region's largest redevelopment, NorthPark.
Phase I - Express Scripts' LEED-certified, 320,000 square-foot facility was completed in 2007 and houses approximately 1,000 employees.
Phase II - Completed in 2008, Phase II includes a 181,000-square-foot office building and expanded parking capacity. It houses 900 employees for departments such as information technology and financial services.
Phase III - Express Scripts finished its third building in 2010. The Technology & Innovation Center, responsible for dispensing 110,000 prescriptions per day, will create another 300 quality jobs.
Phase IV - The company's fourth expansion in five years will increase its operating efficiencies, secure 1,300 current positions and create 150 new jobs. Additions include a data center, pharmaceutical dispensing line, filler pharmacy, and expanded parking capacity.
