Coleman_talking.jpgSt. Louis County is truly a great place to live and work! It continues to receive recognition for its affordable cost of living, family-oriented environment, excellent cultural amenities, and supportive business climate. St. Louis County has the highest per capita personal income in Missouri and employs more people than any other county in the state.

It is our objective at St. Louis County Economic Council to support businesses and economic growth in our region, which translates into a better quality of life for residents. We focus on four key areas of economic development that maintain and better our economic position:

Job Creation: High-quality, diverse employment opportunities are the life source of every community. St. Louis County creates approximately 25 jobs per day.

Business Growth: If jobs are the life source for the community, business growth is the spring from which jobs flow. The Economic Council encourages the growth of business of all sizes through a myriad of support services.

Industry Diversification: An economy built on industry diversification creates the foundation for business growth and job creation. An effort that began during the defense downsizing of the 1990s continues today as we anticipate and plan for further economic evolution.

Strategic Redevelopment: Rebuilding communities is at the heart of our redevelopment efforts. The Economic Council facilitates comprehensive redevelopment, which can be seen in communities such as Jennings, Wellston and Lemay.

We are committed to maintaining a vibrant, diverse community and look forward to bringing even greater growth, more industry diversification and increased opportunity to the communities of St. Louis County.
