Real Estate and Community Development Overview
St. Louis County has many opportunities for community reinvestment. It is the Real Estate and Community Development Division's mission to promote and facilitate land use and re-use in ways that revitalize communities, encourage business investments and protect our vital green space. We partner with municipalities, community groups and business leaders, bringing our expertise and resources to the redevelopment table.
The Real Estate and Community Development Division targets abandoned, contaminated or underutilized sites and works to return them to productive commercial, industrial and/or residential use. From land assemblage to Brownfield remediation to infrastructure improvements, we take the first critical steps needed to attract developers.
Together, we're stabilizing and energizing communities throughout St. Louis County, using tools such as Tax Increment Financing (TIF), tax abatement, eminent domain, and tax-exempt bond financing.
